It was formally inaugurated in 1976 and began functioning with 15 inmates, both boys and girls between the ages of 12-35, under the visionary leadership of MSGR. Dr. Raul N. Gonsalves, Apostolic Administrator. The centers primary aim is to meet the needs of differently-abled children by providing education and support to those with hearing impairments, orthopedic handicaps, mental retardation, and learning disabilities. The center operates under the management of the diocesan society of education and offers opportunities for students to participate in various activities, including sports and art competitions.
Volunteers are instrumental in enriching the lives of differently-abled children at the Special Needs Children Care project. The project welcomes international volunteers who can contribute their time, skills, and compassion to support the physical, educational, and emotional development of the children. Volunteers help create a nurturing environment and provide additional resources that enhance the quality of life for these special individuals.
